QUESTIONS

Discussion questions for teens with sample answers based on their interests.

Matthew 28:16-20

1. How do you think the disciples felt when Jesus commissioned them to go and make disciples of all nations?

Sample Answer: The disciples might have felt a mix of excitement and apprehension about the task ahead, unsure of how to reach people from different cultures and backgrounds.

2. What are some challenges modern teenagers might face in sharing their faith with others, similar to the disciples’ challenge of spreading the Gospel to all nations?

Sample Answer: Modern teens may struggle with fear of rejection, lack of confidence in discussing their faith, or difficulty navigating conversations about spirituality in a diverse and often secular society.

3. In what ways can teenagers find joy and fulfillment in fulfilling the Great Commission, just as the disciples did?

Sample Answer: By sharing their faith, teens can experience the joy of connecting with others on a deeper level, seeing lives transformed by the message of Christ, and being part of something greater than themselves.

4. How can modern teenagers overcome doubts and fears when it comes to sharing their faith, drawing inspiration from the disciples’ journey?

Sample Answer: Teens can look to the disciples’ example of reliance on God’s power and presence, seek support from their Christian community, and pray for courage and boldness in sharing their faith.

5. What aspirations do teenagers in modern society have for making a positive impact on the world, and how does the Great Commission align with those aspirations?

Sample Answer: Teens often aspire to make a difference and leave a lasting legacy. The Great Commission offers them a meaningful way to impact lives, spread love and hope, and be agents of positive change in a broken world.

Teaching God's LoveThe Language of Love

Teaching God’s Love

OBJECTS: None

Itโ€™s almost summer and the school year is coming to an end โ€“ so I thought today might be a nice time to stop and think about a very important group of people: teachers.

You probably see your teachers as much as you see your moms and dads some days. But have you ever really thought about their jobs? What does it mean to be a teacher? What do teachers do? (Solicit childrenโ€™s responses.)

Thatโ€™s right โ€“ being a teacher is a very important (and busy) job! Teachers do lots of things, but their most important job is to help you learn. They teach you to be readers and writers, mathematicians and scientistsโ€ฆthe list goes on and on!

But thereโ€™s something important that I want you to pay attention to as you watch them this week. Great teachers donโ€™t just tell us things โ€“ they show us how to do the things weโ€™re trying to learn. When teachers give us examples to follow, learning becomes much easier.

Being a Disciple

OBJECT:  Piano music, woodworkerโ€™s tools, pictures of sea life.

If you want to learn something new, what would be the best way to go about doing that? Finding a good teacher is very helpful.

Perhaps you want to learn to play the piano. Wouldnโ€™t you want to spend time with the best teacher you could find? You would watch your teacher play the piano, listen to instructions, hear what the music sounds like, and then try to duplicate what you have seen and heard.

Maybe you would like to learn how to build things. You would find a woodworker who could teach you how to use various tools, how to work with wood, how to follow instructions and design beautiful objects.

If you are interested in sea life you would try to find a marine biologist, spend time with that person at the beach, listen and learn to identify sea creatures, and read books about this interesting subject.
