Prayers of the Faithful
Priest / Leader: Brothers and sisters, Jesus calls us to a radical purity that transforms our inner thoughts, desires, and motivations. Knowing that true peace is found not in fulfilling our own self-will, but in emptying ourselves for others, let us lift our petitions to the Father.
Lector:
- For the Church: That she may remain a faithful guide in a confusing world, boldly proclaiming the beauty of chastity, integrity, and the sacredness of human relationships. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For the grace of interior purity: That the Holy Spirit may cleanse our hearts from lust, envy, and hidden selfishness, helping us to see every person as a child of God worthy of profound respect and dignity. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For those in difficult or painful relationships: That the Lord may grant them wisdom, strength, and safety, helping them to discern with clarity while protecting them from environments of abuse and harm. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For deliverance from pride and frustration: That we may recognize when our anger stems from an inability to control outcomes or satisfy our own egos; may we daily choose to let the old self die so that Christ may drive the boat of our lives. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For married couples and families: That their lives may be marked by supernatural, self-diffusing love—emptying themselves for the sake of one another and mirroring Christ’s love for the Church. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For our local parish community: That we may turn the logic of the world upside down through humble, joyful service, finding our true fulfillment not in self-gratification, but in loving our neighbor. We pray to the Lord. All: Lord, hear our prayer.
Priest / Leader: Heavenly Father, You desire truth and purity in the depths of our beings. Grant us the grace to let go of our old worldly ways and be born anew in the power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
