The Church
For the Church: that we may be attentive to God’s invitations and allow Jesus to draw our attention away from our fear and limits so that we can respond to all that God asks
For the grace to deeply listen: that we may follow Christ away from the noise and demands of daily life and enter the silent depths of our hearts where we can hear God’s words of life and love
For an ever-deepening conversion of heart: that the Holy Spirit will help us discover our misdirection, guide us in practicing the teachings of Christ, and lead us greater faith, stronger hope, and deeper love,

5th Sunday of Year C
The Church
We pray for all who are called to be prophets, apostles, and fishers of people, that they may embrace their unworthiness as a transformative power in their ministry. May they, like St. Paul, recognize the grace of Christ that goes to the very edge of our poverty, finding every sinner and weak soul, and use their talents, strengths, and weaknesses for the greater glory of God’s Kingdom. We pray to the Lord…
I am the least of the apostles,
not fit to be called an apostle,
because I persecuted
the church of God.
But by the grace of God
I am what I am,
and his grace to me has
not been ineffective.

Special Needs
We pray for all who are called to be prophets, apostles and fishers of people, that they will be fearless heralds of the kingdom of God. We pray to the Lord…
For astonishment at the catch of fish
they had made seized him
and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon,
“Do not be afraid;
from now on
you will be catching men.”
When they brought
their boats to the shore,
they left everything and
followed him.

Local Community
Loving God, grant us the grace to recognize that, like Isaiah, Paul, and Peter, we are all unworthy before your divine majesty. Yet, through your grace and the purification offered through Christ’s sacrifice, we are made clean and are given a sacred mission. Guide everyone in our parish to continue humbly and faithfully in the mission given to us.
Then I said, “Woe is me,
I am doomed!
For I am a man of unclean lips,
living among a people of unclean lips;
yet my eyes have seen
the King, the LORD of hosts!”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me,
holding an ember that he had taken
with tongs from the altar.
He touched my mouth
with it, and said,
“See, now that this has
touched your lips,
your wickedness is removed,
your sin purged.”
