For those thinking of leaving the Catholic Church: May we learn from the example of Elijah, who, in his despair, found solace and renewed hope through the touch of an angel. In moments of discouragement over the state of our Church today, may we seek comfort in the Holy Spirit and remember that God’s love and guidance have sustained His people throughout history.
Elijah went a day’s journey into the desert,
until he came to a broom tree
and sat beneath it.
He prayed for death saying:
“This is enough, O LORD!
Take my life,
for I am no better than my fathers.”
He lay down and fell asleep
under the broom tree,
but then an angel touched him…

For our priests: May they receive nourishment in body and spirit, finding the strength and sustenance they need to continue their ministry, just as Elijah found strength in the bread and water provided by the angel of the Lord. We pray to the Lord.

For our priests: May they foster unity within their parish communities, guiding us to live in peace and harmony, just as Christ desires for us to be one in His body. We pray to the Lord.

For our priests: May they deepen their faith in the living bread that came down from heaven, drawing strength and guidance from the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. We pray to the Lord.

For those struggling with worry and fear: May we find solace in the words of the psalmist, turning to the Lord in our distress and seeking His guidance. May our trust in God’s providence and love deliver us from our fears, filling our hearts with hope and gratitude.

And delivered me from all my fears.

FIRST READING
May our society recognize the inherent value of every human life, from the moment of conception to natural death, providing the nourishment of love and protection to all, just as Elijah was nourished by the food provided by the angel of the Lord.
SECOND READING
For the unborn: May we imitate Christ’s sacrificial love, offering our own sacrifices as life-giving gifts, and fostering a culture that cherishes every human life from conception to natural death. May we be imitators of God, as St. Paul exhorted, extending compassion and care to mothers and their unborn children.
