5th Sunday of Year A
ROME REPORTS (1:27) – The Pope’s agenda for the month of February will be primarily shaped by the spiritual exercises which will be held at the Apostolic Palace this year. They will be Pope Leo’s first as pontiff, and he will undertake them with the Roman Curia from February 22 to 27.
For Pope Leo’s ministry this February, that his celebration of World Day of Consecrated Life, pastoral visits to Rome’s parishes, and leadership through Lent may inspire renewal and unity in the Church. May his spiritual retreat with the Roman Curia deepen his heart for service, and may all his words and actions guide the faithful toward holier lives. Let his witness shine as a light to the world, drawing many to Christ.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters,
proclaiming the mystery of God,
I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom.
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you
except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

DIOCESE OF GRAND ISLAND (0:30) – The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy
Lord, open our hearts to those in need—feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and clothe the naked through our hands. Help us see Christ in every suffering brother and sister, and move us to act with compassion, not indifference. May our generosity ignite Your light within us, healing wounds, restoring hope, and making Your mercy visible to all.
Share your bread with the hungry,
shelter the oppressed and the homeless;
clothe the naked when you see them,
and do not turn your back on your own.
Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
and your wound shall quickly be healed;
your vindication shall go before you,

As members of this parish, may we be a beacon of Christ’s love in our community—bold, united, and unafraid to share our faith. May our words, actions, and worship shine brightly, drawing others to the hope we carry, just as a city on a hill cannot be hidden.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then
put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others…
