IN BRIEF

Divine Sonship

The doctrine of Divine Sonship affirms that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and has a unique relationship with the Father.

In Luke 3:22, God proclaims Jesus as His Son, saying, “You are my beloved Son; with you, I am well pleased.”

The Trinity

This doctrine teaches that God exists as three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.

In Luke 3:21-22, all three persons of the Trinity are present during Jesus’ baptism—Jesus is baptized, the Holy Spirit descends in the form of a dove, and God the Father speaks.

Baptism

Baptism is the sacrament through which people become part of the Church, are cleansed of sin, and receive the Holy Spirit.

In Luke 3:15-16, 21-22, Jesus’ baptism is described as an example for believers to follow. In Acts 10:37-38, Peter instructs people to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Universal Salvation

This doctrine emphasizes that God’s salvation is offered to all people, regardless of their background.

Acts 10:34-35 emphasizes that God shows no partiality and accepts people from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

The Servant of the Lord

This doctrine highlights Jesus as the ultimate servant of God who fulfilled the will of the Father.

Isaiah 42:1 speaks of a servant chosen by God, who is understood to be a prophecy about Jesus Christ. Acts 10:38 describes Jesus as one who “went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil.”
