1st Reading – Is 5:1-7

The prophet uses the example of a vineyard for the house of Israel, citing the planning, work, and preparation that are necessary to make it happen. When the vineyard does not produce fruitful grapes, it becomes a ruin that is overgrown with thorns and briars.

2nd Reading – Phil 4:6-9

Have no anxiety, but rather make all prayers and petitions to God with thanksgiving. Keep doing all things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, excellent, and praiseworthy!

Gospel – Mt 21:33-43

Jesus offers a parable of a vineyard where the tenants reject the servants and even the landowner’s son. The Lord then applies this parable to the chief priests and the elders, showing how they have rejected the kingdom of God.
