MK 13:33-37

Doctrine:

The primary doctrine that can be derived from Mark 13:33-37 is the doctrine of watchfulness and readiness for the return of Christ. This passage highlights the importance of being alert and prepared for the coming of the Lord, who will come at an unexpected hour.

Key Verses:

1. Mark 13:33 – “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”

2. Mark 13:35 – “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back-whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.”

3. Mark 13:37 – “What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

Systematic Theology:

1. Eschatology – This passage falls under the category of eschatology, which is the study of the end times. It teaches about the second coming of Christ and the need to be prepared for it.

2. Soteriology – The doctrine of watchfulness and readiness can also be linked to soteriology, as it emphasizes the importance of being saved and living a life of obedience to God.

3. Christology – The second coming of Christ, as mentioned in this passage, is a key aspect of Christology. It reminds us of the deity and authority of Jesus, who will return as the ultimate judge and ruler.
