PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL – 24th Sunday of Year B

We pray for Pope Francis, that his guardian angel surround him with unfailing love and keep him safe from all harm. We pray that all plots or schemes designed to bring him harm continue to be foiled and that those responsible for his safety be given wisdom, so that they may anticipate and avert any other potential threats.

Prayer for Faithfulness in Service

Lord Jesus, we pray for our priests, that they may faithfully respond to your call, just as the Servant in Isaiah was obedient and persevered in his mission. Grant them the grace to serve with the wholehearted dedication and unwavering faith, even in the face of adversity.

Prayer for Embracing Suffering

Merciful Father, we ask that our priests embrace their own sufferings, united with the sacrifices of Christ, so that they may bring healing and compassion to those they shepherd, as Jesus taught his disciples to take up their crosses and follow him.

Prayer for Genuine Living Faith

Almighty God, we pray that our priests may exemplify the living faith you desire, as emphasized in James’ epistle, by showing their faith through actions and works of mercy, leading their congregations to follow in their footsteps.

Prayer for the Abandonment of Empty Faith

Loving Father, we pray for our priests to identify and eliminate any empty faith within their ministries, just as James warns against faith without works, and instead, to embrace a genuine faith that bears fruits of righteousness and love.

Holy Spirit, we pray that our priests may courageously proclaim Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God, just as Peter did in Mark’s Gospel, without fear of rejection or persecution, and that they may continue to guide us on the path of salvation.

Lord Jesus, we pray for our priests to follow your example and embrace the cross of suffering, leading their flock to understand that true discipleship requires sacrifice and self-denial. We ask that you give them strength and courage as they lead us in living lives of service and humility.
