Preparedness
The passage emphasizes the importance of being prepared for events that are certain to happen but uncertain in timing. This is illustrated through the bridesmaids and their lamps.
Missed Opportunities
The text indicates that lack of preparedness can lead to missed opportunities that are not recoverable, like the bridesmaids who miss the wedding feast.
Individual Responsibility
Each bridesmaid is responsible for her own lamp and oil, highlighting the theme of personal accountability in being prepared for important events.

In catechesis we must move beyond information in order to keep kids in formation. We so easily fall into the same trap over and over again. We emphasize information at the expense of formation. Our goal isn’t to instruct experts in the faith. There is no entrance exam at the gates of heaven. Our goal is to help our students enter into and thrive in a relationship with Jesus Christ. We are forming disciples, not theologians. If we focus on faith formation rather than faith information, then we will change the way we teach. Facts ➡️ Faith
