GOSPEL

  • Be Kind to Everyone -Jesus wants us to be kind to everyone, even if they aren’t kind to us. He tells us to share our things and be nice to our friends, family, and even people who aren’t nice to us.
  • Share Without Expecting Anything Back – Jesus teaches us to share our things with others who need them and not expect anything back. We should be happy to help people, just like we feel happy when someone helps us.
  • Treat Others the Way We Want to Be Treated – This is called the Golden Rule. If we want our friends to be nice and share with us, we should be nice and share with them too.
  • Love Everyone, Even People Who Aren’t Nice – Jesus tells us to love everyone, not just our friends or people who are nice to us. This can be hard, but it’s important because it helps make the world a better place.
  • Be Generous Like God Is -Jesus reminds us that God is very generous to us, giving us our families, friends, and beautiful days. We should be generous too, sharing what we have and being happy for others when they have good things.

TRANSCRIPT ✨

Hi friends! My name is Ana, and I am here to share next Sunday's Gospel with you! It is from the book of Luke, chapter 6, verses 27 to 38. In this story, Jesus teaches us how to be kind, forgiving, and loving to others, just like God is to us.

Jesus starts by telling us to be kind to everyone, even those who are not kind to us. I know, it can be hard sometimes. But imagine if everyone did this! If you share your toys, even with the kid who doesn't like to share, they might see how good it feels and want to share too. When we are kind, even when others aren't, it's like we're planting seeds of kindness in their hearts!

Next, Jesus says to give to those who need our help, and not expect anything in return. Remember when you shared your snack with the new student who forgot theirs? You didn't expect them to give you something back; you just wanted to make them happy! It feels really good to share and help, doesn't it?

Jesus also tells us to treat others how we want to be treated. We all want our friends to be nice, play fair, and forgive us when we make a mistake, right? So, we should do the same for them! If you accidentally broke your friend's toy, wouldn't you want them to forgive you? Just like you would want them to forgive you, you should forgive them if they break something of yours.

We should love everyone, not just our friends. Jesus says even people who aren't nice can love those who are nice to them. But he wants us to love everyone, even if they aren't nice to us. That's a hard one, but let's try our best, just like Jesus did!

When someone is mean to you, it can be really hard to love them, can't it? But remember, Jesus loved and prayed for those who were mean to Him too! And you know what? When people see how kind, forgiving, and loving you are, even to those who aren't always nice, you will shine like a star!

Finally, Jesus says to be generous, like God is generous with us. God gives us lots of good things - our families, friends, sunny days, and so much more! We can be like God too, by sharing and being happy for others when they get good things. It's like having a big, kind, and loving heart that wants to make the whole world smile!

Pope Francis has often talked about the importance of love and mercy, just like Jesus does in Luke 6:27-38. He says that as Christians, we are called to love everyone, even people who are not nice to us. He calls this the "law of love" - to love God and to love others like brothers and sisters.

So, my dear friends, let's try to follow Jesus's words in this Sunday's Gospel. Let's be kind, forgiving, loving, and generous. Let's treat others the way we want to be treated, and love everyone just like Jesus did! And remember, even when it's hard, God is there to help us, and He's always proud when we try our best!

The Golden Rule

Sermons 4 Kids

OBJECTS: Bubbles for blowing; few dollars in cash; bag of chips; video game controller

Today we’re reading in the Bible about something Jesus, our King, said was important to do. Many people call this “The Golden Rule.” (Invite kids to share if they know what it is.)

Jesus taught that loving one another, even people we don’t get along with is really important. And one way we do that is to treat others how we want to be treated. So if we want others to welcome us when we’re new to their school, then we do that for others. Or if we want others to be kind to us, we are kind to others. We’ll learn more about that today.

Giving More Than is Needed

Sermon Writer

OBJECTS: Candy bar. Share with children, if appropriate.

Let’s see what we can learn about this word – generosity. Imagine that you and your friend were given a candy bar. You take the candy bar, unwrap it, and break it into two pieces. Oops, one piece is much larger than the other. Which piece do you give to your friend?

If you choose to give your friend the larger piece you are a generous person. You know about generosity. We could say that generosity is when you give something to another person without expecting to receive anything in return.

We can be generous in many ways. Let’s make a list.

Some people are generous with their time. They offer to help others even though they may be tired and busy.

Some people are generous with their talents. These people, who may be singers, builders, writers, caregivers, gardeners, or teachers, offer their special gifts to others. (These examples may be personalized to be more meaningful to the children.)
